How Would Technology Change My Classroom

How could you adapt or change one of your current class/course policies to reflect a moving mindset? Is this a change you are willing to make? Why or Why not?

I did not have immediate access to good technology in my classroom.  My broken down netbooks often caused more headache than anything.  I even promised my largest class that we would never get those things out again.

Because of my lack of technology, I would love to integrate BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to class.  I had some troubles with students using their cell phones for texting and games during class so I never tried it.  The majority of my students never showed me they had the maturity to handle their phones in class as it was.  Students had them hidden under desks, behind books, and tucked in sleeves.  In a class of 30 when I was attached to the computer (using technology), I found it difficult to manage cell phone use.

To intergrate BYOD into a classroom, a strict set of rules would need to be put into place.  I've done some research on BYOD already through Pinterest.  I found this poster at

I think the website also has some good tips on BYOD classroom management. Check it out.

I need to continue to do more research on what I would do with BYOD.  I love the idea of polling students for answers to give me an accurate percentage of their understanding.  Or using polls and surveys for an agree or disagree pre-reading assignment.  I think the ideas of endless to technology.

Thanks for reading!
